D.J. Reed to get first opportunity in place of injured free safety Adrian Colbert

The San Francisco 49ers lost another started to injury, with free safety Adrian Colbert suffering a high ankle sprain in the team’s Week 7 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. The 49ers placed him on injured reserve Monday evening, which coincided with the re-signing of free agent quarterback Tom Savage.

Colbert has dealt with a couple injuries this season, and when he has gone down, rookie D.J. Reed has moved into the lineup in his place. Reed has played some slot corner as well, but the vast majority of his defensive snaps have been at free safety.
