The chances of DirecTV and Disney resolving their contract dispute ahead of the San Francisco 49ers’ season opener on “Monday Night Football” are now virtually zero, with a petty announcement from one side to its subscribers offering a big hint as to where the situation stands.
DirecTV users noticed over the last couple of days that their cable service provider has been openly blaming Disney for the lack of access to ABC and ESPN, where Monday’s 49ers-Jets game is set to broadcast.
“Disney wants you to miss out on Monday Night Football on ABC and ESPN while DIRECTV works to reach a new agreement,” reads a message that appears when you try to navigate to ESPN or ABC on the cable service provider.
