Defensive back who had free agent visit with the 49ers is heading to the AFC North

The San Francisco 49ers hosted free agent safety Juan Thornhill on a visit last week, but he will not be playing in the Bay Area next season.

Instead, Thornhill signed a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday, remaining in the AFC North after playing the last two seasons with the Cleveland Browns.

Only 29 years old, Thornhill has been a starter during all six of his years in the NFL. Being drafted in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, he played his first four seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs before moving to the Browns for the last two seasons.
