Davis makes debut at right guard

SANTA CLARA – Anthony Davis made the start at right guard for the 49ers on Friday night against the Green Bay Packers.

Davis was moved to right guard after making his first 71 regular-season starts of his career at right tackle. But after returning from a one-year hiatus, Davis competed against Trent Brown for his old job.

Brown has played well during training camp and the first two exhibition games, prompting the 49ers to move Davis to right guard, where he supplanted Andrew Tiller with the first-team offense during practices this week. He said the last time he played guard in a game was during his freshman season at Rutgers.
