Despite some trepidation from owner Jerry Jones earlier this week, all signs seem to point to the Dallas Cowboys trotting out Brett Maher on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers.
Maher rose to national infamy on Monday during the Cowboys’ 31-14 rout over the Buccaneers, missing his first four extra point attempts of the evening. He got his fifth attempt through the uprights, which garnered a loud sarcastic cheer from the Tampa crowd.
Perhaps the biggest sign that he’ll be the starter on Sunday is that he’s been the team’s best kicker in practice.
