The FDA approved a drug Friday that specifically targets ALS, the first such treatment in 22 years.
You might imagine 49ers legend Dwight Clark caught wind of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s approval of Radicava, which treats amyotrophic lateral sclerosis — otherwise known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
No word from Clark about the drug, but the former 49ers receiver promised to “fight like hell” against ALS so it’s easy to wonder if he’ll try Radicava.
“An intravenous infusion given by a health care professional,” Radicava has “an initial treatment cycle of daily dosing for 14 days, followed by a 14-day drug-free period,” the FDA wrote in a release, per NBC Bay Area.
