SANTA CLARA — New 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman entered the NFL as much-doubted fifth-round draft pick looking to stick it to his skeptics.
Four Pro Bowls and a Super Bowl title later, he’s got the same mission all over again.
Sherman sounded Monday as if he’d been taking notes about anyone who thinks he’s too old or too injured to play at an elite level.
“It’s kind of re-igniting that gasoline fire that I’ve always had burning,” Sherman said on his introductory 49ers conference call. “It just threw a lot more gas on it, and I appreciate that.
