The 49ers expect the largest crowd in their 73-year history Saturday for the team’s first playoff game at Levi’s Stadium, a facility mostly known for sterility and bad football since it opened in 2014.

Team executives hope to re-ignite the fanbase and begin building new Candlestick Park-like lore when the 49ers face the Minnesota Vikings in a National Football Conference divisional game.
“This is our chance on the NFL stage,” 49ers president Al Guido said. “I get goosebumps thinking about what that atmosphere could be.”
The team has worked hard on and off the field to build a raucous environment that has been lacking since the 49ers left historic Candlestick Park for the South Bay.
