Lions cornerback C.J. Gardner-Johnson learned two lessons against the 49ers on Sunday: It ain’t over until it’s over, and the internet catches everything.
Broadcast cameras caught the Detroit player waving goodbye to the crowd at Levi’s Stadium late in the second quarter, after the Lions shockingly went up 21-7 against the Niners. As San Francisco began to mount its comeback, the clip of Gardner-Johnson’s wave resurfaced with each score.
As many pointed out, after the wave took place, a series of unfortunate events happened to allow the Niners to complete their comeback and punch their ticket to the Super Bowl, 34-31.
