It wasn’t exactly the dream return he would have hoped for, but Colin Kaepernick did show some signs of life in his first 49ers start in nearly a year.
Kaepernick was erratic and missed plenty of throws, but was no worse than Blaine Gabbert as the Niners were stomped by the Buffalo Bills.
To the contrary, Kaepernick was able to strike up connections with the 49ers’ top two receivers – Torrey Smith and Quinton Patton – who had gone virtually ignored by Gabbert, and again proved himself to be the greater big play threat as a runner.
