General manager Trent Baalke deserves a good deal of credit for making an effort to reconstruct this Niners roster from the base up. His work in the 2016 NFL Draft started in the trenches, and San Francisco’s first overall pick — defensive end DeForest Buckner — is a reflection of this effort.
Buckner joins a budding cast and will be paired with former University of Oregon teammate and the Niners’ 2015 first-round draft pick Arik Armstead.
