After yet another contentious and dizzying summer of contract talks with a superstar that lasted all the way through the preseason, the San Francisco 49ers have come to an agreement with wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk on a contract extension.
Aiyuk and the 49ers have agreed on a four-year, $120 million deal that will give the wide receiver $76 million in guaranteed money, according to NFL Network insiders Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport. The move comes after a monthslong squabble (mostly through one-way social media posts from the 26-year-old and those close to him) that kicked into high gear once Aiyuk requested a trade from the 49ers a week before training camp, showed up for camp anyway to start a “hold-in” and then subsequently was given permission to seek a contract with some 49ers-approved potential trade partners.
