SANTA CLARA – The storyline of the 49ers’ offseason was seemingly an ongoing saga of the team’s losses.
After all, the league’s fifth-ranked defense of a year ago saw the departures of Patrick Willis, Justin Smith and Chris Borland to retirements, as well as cornerbacks Perrish Cox and Chris Culliver in free agency.
But with the first training camp practice scheduled for Saturday night at Levi's Stadium, the focus shifts to two high-profile starters who will return to the team’s defensive depth chart to help compensate for those who are no longer around.
Linebacker NaVorro Bowman, a three-time first-team All-Pro selection, returns to the practice field at Levi’s Stadium for his first training camp appearance since the 2013 season.
