LANDOVER, Maryland – Rookie linebacker Reuben Foster will miss a fifth straight game because of his season-opening ankle sprain, as the 49ers inactivated for today’s game at Washington.
Foster returned to practice this past week in limited fashion. Upon releasing NaVorro Bowman on Friday, coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch hinted that Foster may not play much — or, at all, as it turns out — against Washington.
The 49ers inside linebacker corps likely will feature starters Brock Coyle and Ray-Ray Armstrong with backups Elijah Lee and Mark Nzeocha.
Safety Eric Reid will make his return from a Week 2 knee injury.
