The Chicago Bears (2-8) pursuit of the San Francisco 49ers (1-9) and the No. 2 pick got some help on Monday. The NFL announced that inside linebacker Jerrell Freeman has been suspended four games for violating the policy on performance-enhancing drugs.
Freeman joined the Bears this offseason, signing a three-year $12 million contract after spending the first four seasons of his NFL career with the Indianapolis Colts. Freeman originally went undrafted out of Division III Mary Hardin-Baylor in 2008. He spent 2008 training camp with the Tennessee Titans, and did not play football the rest of that year.
