SANTA CLARA — Quarterback C.J. Beathard started his first game on the road as a professional almost 12 months ago when the 49ers visited arguably the most hostile environment in the NFL — Lincoln Financial Field — to face the Philadelphia Eagles.
Beathard came away battered and bruised, as the eventual Super Bowl champion Eagles intercepted him twice and sacked him four times in a 33-10 drubbing of the 49ers before nearly 70,000 fans.
Now a veteran of all of two NFL road starts, Beathard can expect the same type of raucous atmosphere when the 49ers (1-4) visit Lambeau Field on Monday to face the equally desperate Green Bay Packers (2-2-1).
