As I watched San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy throw his second touchdown to tight end George Kittle during the team’s 21-13 victory over the Seattle Seahawks earlier this month, I had a thought: Could the Seahawks conceivably win a game with their third-string quarterback?
The answer, I learned, is no. He doesn't exist. The Seahawks, at least right now, don’t have a third-string quarterback signed to the active 53-man roster. (They do have Sean Mannion on the practice squad.)
The 49ers, on the other hand, have not lost a game with Purdy under center.
