The San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens met in Super Bowl XLVII back in 2013. It was a game most Niners fans would like to forget because it was the only time in franchise history that the team played in a Super Bowl they did not win.
The five-time Super Bowl champion 49ers fell behind the Joe Flacco-led Ravens early, and despite a valiant second-half comeback, fell by a final score of 34-31. Flacco ended up winning MVP of the game with three touchdown passes.
Ravens head coach John Harbaugh got the best of little brother Jim Harbaugh‘s Niners to lead Baltimore to its second Super Bowl win in franchise history.
