SANTA CLARA -- Earlier this week Anthony Davis suggested the 49ers take an offensive tackle in the draft. On Saturday they did just that. Twice.
The team took John Theus out of Georgia early in the fifth round, then took another SEC player, Fahn Cooper, at the end of the round. Both have experience at both left and right tackle and presumably will compete with incumbent right tackle Trent Brown this season.
“I’m extremely comfortable with both spots," Theus said. "I played equally on both sides at Georgia, and that’s one of the things that I think makes me more valuable than some of the other guys.
