If the San Francisco 49ers value one thing in their players, it’s versatility. Be it offense or defense, there are numerous players who can cover more than one position on the defense.
Offensively, versatility keeps opposing defenses guessing and honest. An unpredictable offense is often a potent one.
For the offense, there are two that stand out in particular: wide receivers Richie James and Jalen Hurd.
James, the second-year pro who ended up impressing in limited action on offense last year, also has plenty of special teams abilities. Hurd, a converted running back the Niners took in Round 3 of the 2019 NFL Draft, is also more than just an intriguing experiment.
