Amid Deebo Samuel drama, San Francisco 49ers take wide receiver Danny Gray in NFL Draft's third round

While the circus concerning Deebo Samuel’s trade request (maybe contract negotiations?) continues to unfold, the San Francisco 49ers trudged on in the 2022 NFL Draft selecting wideout Danny Gray, a senior out of Southern Methodist University, with the No. 105 overall selection and Tyrion Davis-Price, a running back from LSU, with the No. 93 pick.

Gray led the SMU Mustangs in receiving yards (803) and co-led them in receiving touchdowns (nine) last season.

ESPN NFL Draft analyst Steve Muench describes Gray as “a shifty open-field runner with good burst and contact balance after the catch.
