On November 18, 2018, Washington Redskins quarterback Alex Smith’s tibia was broken in the third quarter of a game against the Houston Texans. Since the injury, the former 49er has undergone 17 surgeries, but still plans to make a return to the NFL. On Monday, one year to the day of his devastating injury, Smith’s wife, Elizabeth Smith, posted a video to Instagram documenting his recovery.
At the start of the video, Smith is seen being pushed in a wheelchair, his leg immobilized in a cast. By the end of the video, Smith sprints on a treadmill and performs quarterback drills.
