It’s come to this: The 49ers are threatening to join teams that took losing to a new level.
After seven games, the 49ers are on pace to allow 2,962 rushing yards and 501 points, which places them in some bad company.
Some very bad company.
The last team to allow as many rushing yards in a season was the 1980 Saints, a 1-15 team better known as the “Aints” whose fans wore brown paper bags over their heads by the end of that season.
Meanwhile, the last team to allow at least 501 points in a season was the 2008 Lions, the only 0-16 team in NFL history.
