First, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said his team was fully behind struggling kicker Brett Maher going into Sunday's divisional round playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers. Then he reversed himself and said the team would "take a look at" adding another kicker.
The Cowboys ended up splitting the baby, adding new kicker Tristan Vizcaino to the practice squad on Wednesday but merely as "insurance," according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Insurance, presumably, against Maher having a meltdown like the one he had on Monday night, when he missed four straight extra points in Tampa.
