Michael Zagaris never threw a chair at Jim Harbaugh. That was an exaggeration.
But in 2013, the gossipy buzz in the San Francisco 49ers organization about a heated meeting full of F-bombs wasn’t entirely inaccurate. As the head photographer of the San Francisco 49ers for nearly four decades, Zagaris was known for his poignant photos of quiet behind-the-scenes moments, images that were heavily predicated on access. After two years of Harbaugh’s heavy-handed restrictions, Zagaris wanted a one-on-one sit-down with the notoriously combative head coach to make the case for why he should be allowed better access to the players.
