HOUSTON — The Aussie is awesome.
Well, at least 49ers running back Jarryd Hayne was on the second carry of his fledgling football career.
The former Australian rugby league star galloped 53 yards down the left sideline early in the second quarter of the 49ers’ visit to Houston in their preseason opener.
Hayne sprinted through an opening on the left side created by excellent blocks from left tackle Patrick Miller and fullback Bruce Miller. After breaking free, he juked safety Rahim Moore and stiff-armed cornerback A.J. Bouye to the ground before he was pushed out of bounds by cornerback Kevin Johnson at the 13-yard line.
