When the San Francisco 49ers announced that its season opener against the Arizona Cardinals on Sept. 13 would be held without fans, they left the door open for fans to return to Levi's Stadium as early as Week 4 against the Philadelphia Eagles on Oct. 4.
This contrasts from other NFL franchises such as the New York Giants, New York Jets and Chicago Bears, all of which have announced no fans for an indefinite period of time. The Las Vegas Raiders have even gone so far as to state they will not host fans at any point in the season.
