Simply put, the San Francisco 49ers had a terrible season, especially when it comes to the secondary. And as Niner Noise’s Peter Panacy recently pointed out, Pro Football Focus has ranked the 49ers’ secondary as the worst in the league for 2018…no surprise, really.
The Niners defensive backs struggled in just about all facets of the game, from man to zone coverage. And although not quite the player he was prior to his Achilles injury in 2017, cornerback Richard Sherman provided enough stability and security to scare most quarterbacks off from throwing to the left side of the field.
