When is comes to wide receivers, San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan certainly has a “type.” While most NFL teams shy away from smaller receivers, the 49ers continue to stockpile wideouts the size of seventh-round draft pick Richie James, who is listed at 5-foot-9 and 185 pounds.
Along with James, the 49ers have a total of five wide receivers on the roster who are both shorter than 5-foot-11 and lighter than 190 pounds. The other four receivers made the Niners’ initial 53-man roster in 2017; James will need to outplay two of them for a spot on the 2018 roster.
