PITTSBURGH –- Wide receiver and return man Bruce Ellington was ruled out of the 49ers’ game Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers due to an ankle sprain.
Undrafted rookie wide receiver DeAndrew White will replace Ellington on the 46-man active roster for the game. Also, rookie running back Mike Davis is set to make his NFL debut. Davis is active because Reggie Bush is out of action.
Bush remained in the Bay Area to rehabilitate a left calf strain that forced him out of the 49ers’ season opener Monday night against the Minnesota Vikings. Jarryd Hayne and Davis are the 49ers' backup running backs behind starter Carlos Hyde.
