SANTA CLARA -– The 49ers on Thursday agreed on an injury settlement with running back Kendall Hunter, whom the club waived off injured reserve.
The move means if Hunter clears waivers he becomes a free agent and would be able to sign with any team. It also opens the door for the 49ers to re-sign Hunter in the second half of the season if he remains unsigned. The 49ers are not allowed to re-sign Hunter until at least six weeks after the end of the agreed-upon settlement.
