The San Francisco 49ers announced Tuesday that they’ve placed LB Sean Porter on waivers.
The 49ers are clearly preparing to get their roster down the 53 players by Saturday’s deadline, but are giving Porter an advanced opportunity to seek out a new opportunity with another team.
Porter, 26, is a former fourth round pick of the Bengals back in 2013. He spent over two years in Cincinnati before he was waived during the 2015 season and later signed to the Jaguars’ practice squad.
Jacksonville brought Porter back on a future/reserve contract in 2016 only to cut him loose at the start of the year and add him to their practice squad.
