The San Francisco 49ers have promoted cornerback Asa Jackson to the 53-man roster, the team announced on Saturday. To make room for Jackson, the team released 2014 fifth-round pick Keith Reaser, a fellow cornerback.
Jackson was also a fifth-round pick, back in 2012 with the Baltimore Ravens. He had a very strong fourth preseason game, leading many to guess that he might have earned his way onto the active roster. The player that he would have beaten out for the final spot would have been Reaser.
Reaser is the second Trent Baalke draftee to be waived this week after offensive tackle John Theus was let go.
