49ers waive B.J. Johnson from injured reserve

The San Francisco 49ers made a transaction on Tuesday. The team announced they have waived rookie wide receiver B.J. Johnson from the injured reserve list. Johnson suffered what was described as a hamstring injury early in training camp. He went on injured reserve on July 31, ending his season.

The 49ers do not clear a space on the 53-man roster with this move, as an IR player is separate from that list. If Johnson is not claimed off waivers, the 49ers will likely have to pay some or all of his rookie salary depending on the severity of his injury.
