INDIANAPOLIS – Here comes the third exhibition, the ultimate tune-up for a regular-season rebirth, and the 49ers must makes strides in several areas Saturday against the host Colts:
1. Sherman show. Cornerback Richard Sherman’s cuts, backpedal and speed looked impressive in practice Tuesday, setting the stage for his 49ers debut Saturday. Sherman wants to see how his body (see: Achilles, hamstring) respond to every-down action before he exits by halftime.
“I’m leaning a lot on Sherm with this,” Shanahan said. “He’s finally got to the point where we feel he can go and not have setbacks.
