Former San Francisco 49ers and current Oakland Raiders outside linebacker Aldon Smith was officially suspended for one year yesterday — without pay — for violating the NFL Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse.
In short, the 49ers were proven right in letting Aldon Smith go after his latest incident, a hit-and-run with vandalism charges, back in August.
The 49ers front office made a (seemingly more-and-more rare) shrewd move back in March when they converted Aldon Smith’s $9.75 million salary into a series of bonuses.
