49ers trade tight end Vernon Davis

According to ESPN’s ubiquitous Adam Shefter, the 49ers have dealt former Pro Bowl tight end Vernon Davis to Denver for three low-round draft picks. Reportedly, the 49ers will get Denver’s sixth- and seventh-round choices this spring and a sixth-rounder in 2017.
Davis spent nearly a decade with the 49ers after he was chosen 6th overall in 2006 draft by then general manager Scot McCloughan.

With his ceaseless energy and telegenic presence, he quickly became one of the most recognized 49ers and a key cog during the team’s three straight trips to the NFC title game.

But before the arrival of Jim Harbaugh in 2011, Davis was, at times, the center of the team’s passing game.
