The San Francisco 49ers are saying goodbye to Deebo Samuel and trading the star receiver to the Washington Commanders, according to multiple reports.
The Niners are slated to get a fifth-round pick back in exchange for Samuel, who was a second-round pick back in 2019 and starred for the 49ers for six seasons.
NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport was first to report the move, while ESPN insider Adam Schefter was first to report the 49ers’ return. While the deal has been agreed to, NFL offseason rules mean the trade can’t become official until the new season begins on March 12, as Schefter said.
