49ers trade for potential starting center Jeremy Zuttah

SANTA CLARA — The 49ers acquired a new center Wednesday in Jeremy Zuttah, a 16-game starter in 2016 for the Baltimore Ravens.

The deal, announced initially by the Ravens and then by the 49ers, sends Zuttah to the 49ers while the teams exchange sixth-round draft picks. A Pro Bowl selection as a replacement last season, Zuttah (6-foot-4, 300 pounds) must first pass a physical to complete the deal.

A nine-year veteran, Zuttah has played in 131 NFL games with 117 starts, playing for Tampa Bay from 2008 through 2013 before joining the Ravens in 2014. He came to Baltimore in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2015 draft.
