49ers trade Eli Harold to Lions for conditional 7th-round pick in 2020

According to MLive, the 49ers just traded starting outside linebacker Eli Harold to the Detroit Lions for a conditional seventh-round draft pick in 2020, which is basically nothing. They gave him away.

Harold recorded only five sacks in three seasons, and did not play in the 49ers nickel defense. But, he played in their base defense and defended the run well.

Here’s what 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh said about Harold on December 28: “What Eli’s been able to do run-game wise, he’s one of the better edge setters I’ve ever been around from a SAM linebacker standpoint.
