The San Francisco 49ers announced plans Wednesday morning for extensive celebrations of the life and career of legendary wide receiver Dwight Clark. The list of tributes include all players wearing “87” helmet decals throughout the season and field bunting to pay tribute to Clark.
The best part of this? During the October 21 Sunday Night Football contest against the Los Angeles Rams, the team will unveil a pair of statues depicting “The Catch” outside of Levi’s Stadium. There will be statues of Clark and Joe Montana placed exactly 23 yards apart, which is the distance between the two players during the play.
