SANTA CLARA The 49ers, who are short on both experienced receivers and big-bodied receivers, agreed to contract terms Monday on one who fits both criteria: Louis Murphy.
The seven-year veteran spent training camp with the 49ers, though he did not stand out during the summer session. He caught two passes for 28 yards in the preseason. Murphy, 30, was a fourth-round pick by the Oakland Raiders in 2009. he’s also played for the Giants, Panthers and Buccaneers.
The 49ers, however, will be without their top pass catcher, Pierre Garcon, for the rest of the eason after he suffered a broken bone at the base of his neck on Oct.
