The 2018 season is over for fourth-year San Francisco 49ers safety Jaquiski Tartt.
According to head coach Kyle Shanahan (h/t 49ers.com’s Joe Fann), Tartt will be placed on season-ending injured reserve Saturday in advance of the Niners’ Week 16 home matchup against the Chicago Bears.
Tartt suffered a shoulder injury back in Week 13 against the Seattle Seahawks and missed the following two games. A year ago, Tartt also landed on IR, although that time was due to a broken forearm.
The 26-year-old second-round pick of the Niners back in 2015 ranked fifth on the team with 42 tackles, also adding in two pass breakups while primarily playing the in-the-box strong safety role.
