SANTA CLARA -- SANTA CLARA -- After a day off on Monday, the 49ers went through a full-padded session on Tuesday.
Blaine Gabbert was slightly more efficient than Colin Kaepernick in the team period, connecting on 10-12 passes to Kaepernick's 8-11. But Kaepernick looked better in an earlier seven on seven drill in the red zone.
His nicest pass of the day was a back-shoulder throw in the left-hand corner of the end zone to receiver Jerome Simpson, which Simpson set up with a stop-and-go move against cornerback Keith Reaser. On the next play, Kaepernick again found Simpson for a touchdown, this time on the other side of the field.
