SANTA CLARA — Trent Taylor, one of the 49ers’ top wide receivers, underwent foot surgery Friday, general manager John Lynch confirmed during Saturday night’s exhibition-opening broadcast.
Taylor was the leading candidate to start as the slot receiver and reprise his role as a popular target for Jimmy Garoppolo.
It’s been one injury after the other this week for a 49ers team plagued by health issues since coach Kyle Shanahan and Lynch arrived in 2017.
