After trading down six spots from Nos. 104 to 110, with the Cincinnati Bengals and adding pick Nos. 183 and 198 in the sixth round, the San Francisco 49ers selected University of Utah punter Mitch Wishnowsky.
During his career at Utah, Wishnowsky earned many accolades. He is a three time All-American, averaged 45.7 yards per punt and, in 2016, he won the Ray Guy Award, which is presented to the the best collegiate punter in the country.
Many 49ers fans were a bit puzzled by the head-scratching move, but there’s no denying this was a position need for the team.
