The 49ers have a projected 12 draft picks for the 2016 NFL Draft, so general manager Trent Baalke has already started looking ahead to 2017.
The 49ers already have nine draft picks slated for 2017. And it’s possible the team could look to trade a defensive lineman before Sept. 5, when NFL teams are required to cut their rosters to a maximum of 53 players.
In June, the 49ers asked for a pick in the 2017 draft from the Cleveland Browns in exchange for punter Andy Lee. It’s a conditional seventh-round pick that can convert to a sixth-round selection if Lee achieves certain undisclosed marks this season in Cleveland.
