After spending the past two months on the San Francisco 49ers practice squad, Jarryd Hayne not only returned to the active roster on Sunday – he also made his NFL debut in the starting lineup.
The Australian running back got the game’s first carry on the second play from scrimmage, a 4-yard run, and went on to receive a total of 35 snaps – the most of any 49ers ball-carrier.
Hayne finished the game, a 23-17 San Francisco loss, with 47 yards on 14 touches. Meanwhile, DuJuan Harris played 15 snaps and Kendall Gaskins got nine.
