49ers snap count: Davis takes over as backup RB

PITTSBURGH –- Jarryd Hayne opened the game Sunday as the 49ers’ backup running back against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but rookie Mike Davis quickly replaced him in that role while making his NFL debut.

Hayne was the first spare running back to enter when Carlos Hyde briefly left the game in the first half with Reggie Bush out with a calf strain. Hayne played four snaps total, and carried the ball twice for three yards.

Davis took over when Hyde underwent evaluation for a concussion in the third quarter. Davis played a total of 41 snaps in the game.
