With Arik Armstead dealing with a possibly season-ending hand injury, the 49ers on Tuesday signed a pair of 30-something veterans to beef up their suddenly depleted defensive line.
One of them, Tony McDaniel, 32, played 16 games -- 10 starts -- for the Seattle Seahawks last season and finished with 43 tackles. He also played for Seattle in 2013 when 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh was an assistant there. Saleh runs a version of the Seahawks defense, so McDaniel is familiar with the scheme.
The other, Leger Douzable, 31, has played nine seasons for five teams. He spent the preseason with San Francisco after appearing in 16 games last year for the Buffalo Bills.
